History of My Life, Pencil
History of My Life is a self-portrait in the medium of pencil. The reason that I have created this work is because I got an idea to make my self portrait by looking at a picture of myself. I used a pencil to create my portrait. I love to play sports and do outdoor activities. I play football, hockey, and used to play baseball and track. Hockey is my favorite sport. I have played it for over 8 years now and my favorite NHL team is the Washington Capitals. I also love to go camping and being outdoors doing things like fishing. When I am outside I feel calm and have lots of fun with the people around me. I also used to like drawing as a little kid and I now enjoy drawing and painting as it can feel relaxing, especially doing it with friends.

Fruity Picture, Colored Pencil
Fruity Picture is a still life in the medium of colored pencils. I chose to draw an apple, orange, and a pear. The reason that I decided to draw these three fruits is because these are my top three favorite fruits. I especially like oranges because they are what I used to eat whenever I went to my grandparents house after school every other day. I would also like it when my dad brought home pears for me to eat. Fruit is also really good for you to eat no matter what kind. It can help you with sports or just a way to eat healthy. When I look at these fruits I get reminded of my childhood and all the good memories with my family. Fun fact about colored pencils, a single tree can produce the wood necessary for 300,000 colored pencils.

Fish of Colors, Acrylic Paints
Fish of Colors is a painting using the medium of acrylic paints. The reason I chose to fish is because I have always been interested in the ocean and the creatures that live in it. Out of all the fish I think that reef fish are some of the most interesting because of their vibrant colors that help them blend into the surrounding environment. I think that it would be cool to own one of these colorful reef fish in my own aquarium.

DreamLand is a painting that was created by me in the medium of watercolor. The reasons for why I have decided to paint three main items is because of how they relate to me. The first item that was painted, and the most obvious, would be the fisherman with his catch. I love to fish when I can so this was my first choice but as you can see he is not holding his catch in an ordinary fashion. Instead there is a black mass around the fish in place of his hand to show us that he is not really a person but instead a part of a dream. The second item is all of the background with the mountains and the lake. Nature is my favorite thing and I especially like the way mountains and lakes can combine to create a beautiful scene. My last item is the plane crashing. This is also used to show you that this is not real but a dream world filled with fun and with danger.

Pets in Pencil, Pencil
Pets in Pencil is an art piece that I made in the medium of pencil. This art has personal meaning because the dog and cat are my own pets. The dog’s name is Gunner while the cat’s name is Milly. The picture that I based my drawing on was an older picture of my dog and cat from months before the drawing. Looking into the piece you will be able to see small details like the hairs of my pets and depth with shadows and shading.

Colors of Hockey, Colored Pencil
In Colors of Hockey I used the medium of colored pencils to recreate a picture of UND hockey. I chose to draw a picture of the UND hockey team because I want to play hockey for them. They are my favorite D1 hockey team. I have played hockey for roughly 9 years by now, and I still have another 2 years left of high school hockey before moving. The last national NCAA championship UND won was back in 2016, but they have still remained a top 10 team for all these recent years.

Rink of Clay, Ceramics
Rink in Clay is my second project of the year in the medium of ceramics. I chose to make a recreation of a hockey rink, not a specific one, out of clay. The reason that I chose to make a rink is because hockey is one of the most important things to me behind my family. I have played hockey for 9 years, making lots of friends and many memories along the way. It is also my 2nd year of playing high school hockey. I have played hockey in Mayville for my whole hockey career because it is the closest place to play hockey and I have made so many memories. I do not wish to change to another school even if I had the chance to.

Water Color Hockey, Watercolor
Watercolor Hockey is my third project of my junior year. This project used the medium of watercolor. I chose a picture depicting a Czech hockey player named David Pasternak in front of the net about to take a shot. The reason I chose this picture is not only because it looked cool, but also for the fact that Pasternak has been in and active in the NHL since 2014. Pasternak is currently 28 years old and was born in Haviror, Czechia in the year 1996. In his current NHL season Pasternak has 13 goals and 24 assists making his points 37. In his whole career he has 361 goals and 403 assists giving him a total of 764 points.

Oshie's Attempt, Acrylic
In Oshie’s Attempt I decided to paint TJ Oshie’s last shot in his shootout. TJ Oshie became a hero for Team USA in the 2014 Winter Olympics, particularly during the men's ice hockey game against Russia in the group stage. The game went to a shootout after a 2-2 tie in regulation and overtime. Oshie was chosen by coach Dan Bylsma to take multiple attempts in the shootout, and he delivered spectacularly. Oshie scored on 4 of his 6 attempts, outshining Russian goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, and leading Team USA to a 3-2 victory in the shootout. His performance was memorable for the way he kept cool under pressure, especially when taking multiple shots in such a high-stakes situation. Oshie's heroics made him an instant Olympic sensation and a fan favorite.

Bland Hockey, Pencil
In Bland Hockey I used the medium of pencil. I took inspiration from the picture to the right that depicts me playing hockey. This was taken from one of my many games played in the rough 9 years of hockey that I’ve played since a young age. I have one more year left of hockey now since I will be a senior next year. I can’t wait for that time to come, but not for that time to pass.

The Fight, Digital
In The Fight I used a medium of digital art for my first time on any project. It was easier than most things in certain aspects, but it definitely got to be more tedious than anything I have done before. In this art piece it is depicting John Marino, a Pittsburgh Penguins player, throwing a punch at Brady Tkachuk. This was during a regular season game in the 2021-2022 NHL season. Fights in the NHL are far from being uncommon. If you ask anyone that knows anything about hockey they will not be surprised to hear about any fights. Fighting is a part of the game of hockey and keeps it more entertaining than any other sport.

Archangel Michael
Archangel Michael is a mural that I have painted in the hallway of our school. Again, this is what us art seniors have created. The reason I chose to specifically paint what I did is because I wanted to do something involving Catholicism. I was originally going to do a saint, but settled on doing the mural on Archangel Michael. This project means a lot more to me than just painting. I have somewhat recently been converting to Catholicism, so this project is something fun that can show myself.

Mini Me, Bust
Mini Me is a 3D printed bust of myself. These were made for all of the seniors involved within art. I learned that it can be pretty difficult to actually tone and shade match colors of my own skin and the color of my hair. It was a fun project to paint myself even if I did not have that much time to actually get it done.
